Setting
The Martyn House is nestled in the woods along the top of a ridge on eighteen pristine acres of natural forests. With sweeping pastures, a private pond, nature trails and abundant wild life, the farm is picturesque country life.
Located at the gateway to the Blue Ridge Mountains of Georgia, life here is tranquil and outdoor adventures provide endless opportunities to engage with nature. The local rivers offer white water rafting, tubing, canoeing, kayaking and fly-fishing.
Nearby scenic winding country roads are wonderful to see by bicycle or by car. The only hard part is deciding where to break for the picnic! Ellijay is the mountain biking capitol of Georgia. There are thousands of acres of National Forest and Wilderness to be explored for the avid hiker as well.
There are two charming mountain towns near by. Blue Ridge, home to the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, invites you to spend the day enjoying its many wonderful downtown shops and galleries and then relax with refreshment in its popular coffee shop.
Ellijay is more known for its apple orchards and abundant antique shops. It hosts an apple festival each autumn attracting crowds from all over the country who want to delight in the fall leaves and irresistible apple treats.
The Martyn House offers a unique experience. Our commitment to be in harmony with nature and to support the land and not scar the land has resulted in a socially responsible green property.
Like all homesteads, if you want to lend a hand, there is always work to be done! Logs that need to be split for our evening bonfires, ripe berries to be picked for jams and pies, and vegetable and herb gardens to be mulched, weeded and harvested.
We also invite you to just enjoy the property by relaxing in a hammock with a good book or nap.
The Martyn House is a natural haven, a welcoming place to those in search of a little healing by Mother Nature.
Facility
The Martyn House is an intimate event facility. There is a large facility tent referred to as the Buckingham the tent is approx 800 sq ft and sits on a 1200 sq ft deck. The surroundings of the Buckingham are beautiful there is meadow as a backdrop and on the front there is a relatively flat lawn area perfect for out door dining or a larger tent if weather is questionable. There is a smaller 10 x 10 tent that serves as a brides dressing room or outdoor kitchen. Tents are beautifully decorated with colorful ceilings and drapes to match. There are 4 sleeping tents on the property perfect for a few out of town guests. Events here are both magical and memorable.
