The Martyn House is located in the beautiful North Georgia Mountains. The Farm has 18 pristine acres of meadows, rolling hills and ridges, trails through hemlock and laurel forests, a spring fed pond, organic vegetable & flower gardens, chickens, 2 cats (Otis and Milo) and Stella our Great Pyrenees puppy. The 1930’s farmhouse is the home of Rick and JoAnn and has all the charm and warmth one might expect! Also located at the farm is Ricks photography studio, in yet another restored building, just across from the farmhouse – be sure to visit his web site! RickLucasImages
The butterfly is a symbol of change and transformation and has been our logo since our conception.
There are several other unique re-purposed dwellings on the property that were created for the restoration of people! The spaces were created for those seeking transformation whether in their personal life, career or spiritual quest.
The Farm Studio was the original 1930’s barn….re-purposed… and is now converted into an extraordinary creative space. The studio overlooks a meadow with french doors leading out to a private fire pit & an outdoor bath complete with a claw-foot tub & shower…all under an umbrella of wisteria. Inside there is a queen bed, kitchenette, indoor bath w/ a glass shower & compost toilet and a private room for creative exploration.
The Cottage is our whimsical 2 story refurbished 1930’s workshop/garage used for extended stays (up to 6 months) Upstairs there is a king bed, kitchenette w/ dining room, a deck overlooking the property, a full bathroom and small living area. Downstairs is studio space and an extra room with a full & twin bed for overnight guests.
We are a unique property where our guests can opt to stay in one of our Luxury Sleeping Tents from India…we call it Glamping! (The season for Glamping is April 15th – December 1st) All tents may be configured as either twins beds or as a king bed. Glamping~is often referred to as ‘glamorous camping, where luxury in the wild means fine linens and french presses!’ Don’t let the word “tent” fool you, as each tent is beautiful inside with all the comforts of home while being environmentally friendly. They each have their own 6 x 12 private bath with on demand hot showers and composting toilets. The entrance has a large 6 x 12 covered front porch with tables and chairs overlooking the woods or meadow. The bedrooms are 12 x 12 (double occupancy) with a small sitting area. The beds have luxurious bedding. Hot water may be heated for coffee or tea. All tents are heated and will keep you toasty warm on those cooler fall nights, and we have fans for those warm summer nights to keep you comfortable.
The Studio is just a short walk down from the main house. It was originally JoAnn’s art studio where she painted, designed one of a kind art pieces and was a potter you can see the artistic touches throughout. The windows are covered in beautiful shades with Ricks photography dressing them up! The walls are colorful and there are windows everyone which feels as if you are always outside. French doors lead to the meadow and your own private fire pit and outdoor bathroom complete with shower and claw foot tub. The inside bathroom has a glass shower and there is a small kitchenette and an extra room for a guest to stay with you!
